Martial Arts
Jeffrey Openshaw began his karate training at the age of 5 years old in Logan, Utah studying Taekwondo. Jeffrey studied a number of karate and martial arts styles over the past 28 years. In 2007, after teaching for several years with a studio, Jeffrey opened and ran a franchise karate studio in St George, Utah. After the death of his younger brother in 2008, he moved North to be closer to his family. Jeffrey attended college and completed his Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and has been doing counseling with individuals, couples, and families over the past four years. He incorporated martial arts into his therapy practice with his clients to help with difficulties such as behavior issues, bullying, ADHD, self-confidence, women's self defense, etc. Eager to continue teaching the martial arts in a studio setting, Jeffrey decided that it was time to open up a Martial Arts Academy. Here individuals will learn about themselves and create "black belt" excellence within themselves through martial arts and mental training techniques that Jeffrey has learned through years of therapy education and martial arts training. He has created an eclectic martial arts training program that incorporates the best techniques there are. Individuals can feel safe knowing they can protect themselves physically, mentally, and emotionally from bullies and in other dangerous situations.
